Srinagar: Drone activity has once again been reported along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri sector. This comes on the same day that Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi issued a stern warning to Pakistan regarding such activities.
Two drones were spotted in the Rajouri sector. The Indian Army immediately initiated countermeasures and increased vigilance throughout the area.
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, in his annual press conference, stated that India has clearly conveyed to Pakistan that flying drones near the LoC is absolutely unacceptable. He informed that a Director General Military Operations (DGMO) level meeting was held between the two countries on Tuesday, during which India registered a strong protest against the recent drone activities observed in Jammu and Kashmir.
"We have clearly told Pakistan to rein in its drones. The Indian Army is fully vigilant and prepared to respond to any misadventure," General Dwivedi said.
He also clarified that Operation Sindoor is still underway to address security challenges on the western front.
Earlier, on the evening of January 11, several suspected Pakistani drones were spotted near the International Border and the LoC in the Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, at least five drone movements were recorded in the forward areas, following which large-scale search operations were launched amid fears of weapons or smuggled goods being dropped.
In the Naushera sector of Rajouri district, army personnel fired at a drone with medium and light machine guns after it was spotted near Gania-Kalsian village at around 6:35 PM. Around the same time, another drone-like object with a blinking light was seen near Khabbar village in the Teryath area. It reportedly came from the direction of Dharamsal village in Kalakote and disappeared while moving towards Bharakh. Similarly, a drone was spotted hovering for some time around 7:15 PM in Chak Babral village of Ramgarh sector in Samba district. Following these incidents, security agencies are on high alert to thwart any infiltration or conspiracy.
